### My freelancer already uses Claude — will they see everything in our knowledge base?

No. MCP access uses the same role-based tiers as the dashboard. A freelancer connecting from Claude Code can only search the libraries their role allows — restricted content is never searched in the first place, so there's nothing to filter out of an answer.

### Is the heykiku MCP server read-only?

Yes. The MCP server can search documents and answer questions, but it can't create, edit, or delete anything. Uploads and changes use the web app or a write-scoped REST API key, where your approval workflow still applies.

### Which tools can my team use through heykiku?

Claude Code, Cursor, and Claude Desktop all connect through the MCP server. From there your team can ask cited questions with ask_kiku, or drop a Cursor Project Rule that pulls a specific document into context before writing. We focus on the tools agencies actually use, and the setup guide walks you through each one.

### Do I need a developer to use the REST API?

Not on staff, no. Most agencies hand the API reference to the freelancer or contractor who builds their automations. And if you never touch the API, nothing changes — the dashboard does everything on its own.

### Are MCP and the REST API included in my current plan?

Connect features are included in the Bloom plan. Check the pricing page if you're unsure which plan you're on.

### What if our docs aren't in Google Drive?

Upload them directly — drag and drop in the dashboard works for PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, and more. Drive import is a shortcut, not a requirement.

### Where does our data live?

In the EU. Your documents, conversations, and AI processing all run on EU infrastructure.

### Do my documents leave heykiku when I ask a question through Claude?

No. When you ask a question, Claude receives only the text that was retrieved from your knowledge base — not the original file. Your PDFs and spreadsheets stay where they are. heykiku pulls the relevant passage, hands it to Claude, and the file never moves.

### Can someone use a connected tool to access documents above their tier?

No. The role your team member has in heykiku applies to every request — whether it comes from the dashboard, Claude, or Cursor. Restricted content is never retrieved in the first place, so there's nothing to filter out. Even a carefully crafted prompt can't return something that wasn't fetched.

### What counts against my message limit when I'm using Claude or Cursor?

Each time Claude or Cursor calls ask_kiku, it draws one message from your heykiku plan's quota. search_knowledge and the other read tools don't count against it — only ask_kiku does. That usage shows up in your heykiku dashboard, not in your Claude subscription.
